ŠIBENIK
Šibenik is an authentic Croatian town on the Adriatic coast located in the bay of the Krka River. This is the only city in Croatia with two UNESCO protected monuments: St. James Cathedral and St. Nicholas Fortress.
St. James Cathedral is completely built in stone and there different art styles of sculpture, painting and architecture are combined into a single building. St. Nicholas Fortress is one of the most valuable and best preserved examples of defense architecture in Dalmatia.
Šibenik fortresses are recognizable symbols of the city and there are four of them. For now just two are open for visitors (Barone and St. Michael) and the other two (St. John and St Nicholas) are in the process of reconstruction.
