DUBROVNIK
Dubrovnik, “Pearl of the Adriatic” and one of 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Croatia, is one of Croatia’s star attractions.
Dubrovnik earned its wealth thanks to maritime trade and skillful diplomacy in the past. The Republic of Dubrovnik was founded in the 13th century and it was the only city-state in the Adriatic to rival Venice. Dubrovnik kept its freedom and independence, administrated by a great diplomacy and protected by its fortress and walls.
Today the great walls are a major attraction in Dubrovnik, with height of 25 m and total length of 2 km. The walls were built and added to the fortress from the 12th to the 17th century.
Pile Gate, Franciscan Monastery, Rector’s Palace and Stradun are just a few sights that will make you fall in love with this town, showing its splendour through the centuries of glorious history and rich architecture.
